Planet Shakers
02.13.05 (1:50 am)   [edit]
It's just under a month ago and I've finally got bored enough to write about it
Planet Shakers was so amazing. (coincidentally So Amazing is the title of an old Album) Serious I've never been to anything like it! It even made the paper! It was also a perfect way to catch up with some Church mates I hadn’t seen all holidays! Anyway here's Planet Shakers 2005 Day by Day!

Day 1
All we had to do was register before 5pm so it was a sleep in. Mid afternoon we made our way down to where the bus was picking us up from, a good half hour away in the traffic we had. Didn’t really know many people who were standing around. There was SupaDave and one or two people from our Urban Life Group (Urban Life #4 You'll be Coming Back for More) We had two mini buses hired out for the 4 days. We spent the week on Dave's bus... or should I say ride - more on that later.
We got to the venue (State Netball Hockey Centre), got our red armbands and show bags and then went to have a look around. We found some more friends from our Urban Life group and joined them in the queue for the night rally which started at 7.30. We waited in line in the heat for 2 1/2 hours. Luckily we got floor seats but I can think of better things I could have done in that time!
The night rally was even better than I had expected. They played a mixture of the new songs off Always and Forever and a few old songs from All I that I want (including the title track & everything's changed).
Russell Evans gave a really good message which was rather entertaining, especially when he was impersonating the girls reactions to Guy Sebastian before and after Australian Idol (Guy used to sing for PS)
So that was day one. Got home really late and went to be about 1.

Day 2
Woke up at 5.45 (dont ask me how I did it) Dragged myself out of bed and around the house til I was ready, went with dad to pick up Mike and got to the stop at 7.15am. The bus trip was eventful, more like a roller coaster ride with Dave at the wheel using the transit lane and going over the speed humps really fast. We joined an already formed queue to get it. That was the last itme we got floor seats as people started to get wise and line up really early.
Anyway the first preacher we Reggie Dabbs on what he called Black Thursday as all three sessions had someone black speaking, him and Chris Hill. lol. He talked about the desert of a mans soul, and taught us three things. Trust Gods Work, Trust Gods Word and when you cannot go further, then God will carry you. Let me say Ive never seen an alter call as huge or powerful. It was so awesome seriously.
After a quick break (when I got my shirt and CD) Chris Hill took the stage. The only thing I have to say about Chris is BREAK THE SILENCE!!! If you went you'd understand that wouldnt u! lol.
After lunch with some friends we had electives. We chose Worship with Henry Seeley. He really is cool Mike Webber also joined us with his bluey purple hair! Theyre both really down to earth. To anyone who reads this who went and did worship "Waise and Porship"
Then we had 5 hours to kill before the night rally started. Me, Mike and a friend went to Kmart with Ross & Dave, two mates from our old church. We still had to wait in line for ages when we got back but it wasnt as painful as the first day.
To conclude Black Thursday Reggie preached again. I really love Reggie hes awesome lol. I WILL FIGHT FOR THE HEART OF MY KING. There was even a reporter from the Herald Sun there! Read more at http://www.heraldsun.news.com...,5481,12065117,00.html Love the way they call him MR Dabbs lol.
Lovely bus drive home with Dave and the gang. Fall into bed at 1am.

Day 3
Again got up at 5.45 (crazy world) and forced myself down to the bus stop. By this point I'd started losing my voice from singing and screaming. I couldnt even yell at my stalker.. i mean neighbour Nigel who kept popping up everywhere. "I know where you live" "Yeah well I know where you live too!"
Anyway... First up was Sam Evans. Very good message about our passions in life. She is one passionate woman when it comes to her God. It was good to finally have a chick preaching!
By this point I was pretty dead and hungry and only half listening but the next guy woke my up. Jurgen Matthesius. Whoa is he amazing. A lot of his message was dedicated to comedy about "I just want to travel" and how its ok if a plane is crashing because you have your seatbelt on (im so ordering it on dvd) but his message was great too about Jonah.
In the 7 hour break, me, mike and some Urban Life girls went to the Zoo and out to the city for dinner. Got back to the venue to line up yet again for Jurgens second sermon.
Which might i add was just as good as the first. He had the entire stadium singing the home and away theme tune and said "Home and Away is a show where people come home from school and do stuff. People come home from school and turn on the TV and watch a show about people coming home from school and doing stuff and saying 'i wish i was like them'"

Day 4
The final day! Which was sad cos I didnt want it to end! By this time I had like no voice at all lol.
Our Youth pastor Mike Gugliemucci spoke in the first session about paying the price for saving our world, school etc. A really good message for younger people IMO. "He died for me I'll live for Him"
We then heard from Jurgen one last time. This time was less comedy but still a very effective message. I’d write more about it but Im just so lazy lol. Everyone was pretty subdued during lunch as we were all dead tired. But we still managed to have enough energy left to do the live dvd recording. Look for me Im at the back of the mosh pit
SOMEBODY GET YOUR PRAISE ON
Our little Urban Life group then went to get tea at Maccas at the Royal Childrens Hospital. We also managed to get on the wrong tram and nearly go to Airport west! When we got back we had 1 1/2 hours to wait.
It was worth it tho. Chris Hill spoke again and had everyone cheering even though we were all dead tired, unless you cheated like Nathan and only came on the last day!

So thats my planet shakers experience. It was awesome. One of the highlights on 2005 (all 2 months of it ;)) The best part of the day was usually running into Tony, lunch with the girls, and the bus trips with Dave.
COME ON PLANET SHAKERS 2006!!

Until Next Time
